Old photos from south of France

Some years ago I found some old photos in a antique shop, I didn´t know what to do with them, they didn´t cost much so what the HECK I just got the old photos anyway. I felt some excitement when I decided to get them. I know when that is happening to me it always turns in to something fun and new. Well, you know this is called being creative…. so I was at the spot of something unknown.

It lead me to a new sketch book that I started about a year ago, I have a blog post about it here . You can learn how to bind the book. Finaly today I finished it, yeeeayh!!! Feels great so a big:  oooolala.

I don’t need to spend money on these DIY books,  I  used some leftover paper that I had lying around and you can do the same. It always gives me lots of energy because I always get a nice surprise with the outcome.

I go through the drawers and look around and find paper that will make interesting combinations of paper. It can include an old drawing or something printed that wasn’t quite right. For example, I had a flower drawing that turned out terrible (that was what I was feeling at the time). that was a perfect cover for my new sketch book And now I am so pleased with the result and I love my finished art book.

The colours in the book are from the leftover paper, which is a challenge. Below you see what I did with it, when I think of it I am sure I am going to do more drawings in the book.

  1. Absolutely love this!! How creative! The romantic in me wants the families in these pictures and your sketches to find them!! I started collecting black and white pictures (as old as I can get) when I was 13 yrs old! So much history and stories in each one!

    1. Fantastic, I envy you, there are so much out can do with these photos, but just looking at them is enough.

  2. wow! so beautiful!
when you bind a notebook – what paper do you usually use? I really want to make one for some time, but when i use regular paper and watercolors – the affect is not good.
I saw that you’re using in you notebooks watercolor, gouche and acrylic.

    1. HI Einat. I usually use watercolour paper that is more then 90 -140 ld (190 – 300 g) But I usually use my paper that is left over and I often use Heavy-Weight Watercolor Painting Paper, and that can most often also be use for Acrylic and gouache. glad you enjoyed the post. Best of luck to you

    1. I am so glad you enjoyed the post. Thanks for coming back and continuing to read, I appreciate it a lot!

  3. This beautiful story really touches me… Those people had interesting lives and you picked up their ‘memories of this world’ and turned them into wonderful art!!! It touches me partly because I often wonder what would happen to my beloved photos after I die… Thank you for sharing it!!
